Fishtown Native Angles for Bigger Tie to Area’s Past
By the old power-generating station in Fishtown, in the dark waters of the Delaware River, the shad are making their runs. So are the stripers. And whatever else might be chasing them.
“There’s always something bigger,” said native Artie Dolan, standing with his buddy A.J. Thomson along the rocks of the river bank in Penn Treaty Park. Thomson hopes to revive their childhood pastime and spur some neighborhood pride Saturday with the first annual Fishtown Fishing Derby.
